«Ma bella val» tells of glacier melt, which is being researched in particular in the Bernina massif with innovative solutions, but also of Engadin culture, tourism, and skiing. Recent events that directly affect the Roseg Valley show once again how precious this natural environment is.
Positive feedback on the microplastic-free PLA fleece “SNOW Protect”
As part of our Mastercard project, initial field trials with Schoellkopf’s microplastic-free PLA non-woven fabric ‘SNOW Protect’ have yielded promising results.
Weisse Arena Bergbahnen AG reports that the PLA fleece used provided the same level of protection as conventional PP fleeces. However, sewing it together and removing it is somewhat more labour-intensive due to its greater weight.
Corvatsch AG also reports positive results: the PLA fleece was easy to lay out and roll up. Furthermore, a snow layer around 15–20 cm thicker than that observed with PP fleeces was measured.
