Rückblick: Rotary Jugend-Exkursion „Music from Ice to Lake“

Review: Rotary Youth Excursion “Music from Ice to Lake” – Morteratsch Glacier

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming 20 young people from all over the world to Switzerland as part of the Rotary Camp Music from Ice to Lake. During their trip, they discovered places and people with a special connection to water, including the Morteratsch Glacier.

Accompanied by glaciologist Felix Keller, we first took the gondola lift up to the Diavolezza mountain hut. There, before the hike began, music was played by Felix Keller and the participants themselves, who had brought their instruments with them.

From the hut, the trail led downhill to the glacier. Equipped with crampons, the group stepped onto the eternal ice, where exciting discussions about water, glacier melt, and sustainability took place. Between crevasses, fascinating ice formations, and small rivers, they experienced the fascination of this unique landscape up close.

A big thank you to all participants for your interest, your openness, and the lively energy you brought with you.

Ice Stupa meets Sendung mit der Maus

It's almost that time again: an ice stupa is being built at Diavolezza. On September 13 and 14, the basic framework will be set up at the Diavolezza valley station, and we are expecting some very special visitors for the occasion:

A team from ZDF's children's program “Sendung mit der Maus” will accompany us with their cameras for two days to shoot a child-friendly episode on the topic of ice stupas and water storage.

As every year, we are looking for volunteers who would like to actively support us on these two days. Every helping hand is welcome!

Location: Talstation Diavolezza

Date: 13. und 14. September

Time: Genauere Informationen zur Uhrzeit folgen noch.

Would you like to join us? Reserve both dates and register by email (info@glaciersalive.ch) .
